The intent of reading this book is for students to gauge an understanding of our earliest contacts of the Arab world during the Jefferson Administration. Additionally this is a chance to see how American Foreign Policy developed in its early years, and how it tests the leadership of a wartime President who struggles with increasing spending and the national debt, but also with defending our nation and its capability to generate wealth in order to reduce our national debt.
This will give my students an opportunity to engage with a historical composition that relies heavily on primary source text and analysis, but also highlights an important time in history that in essence sets precedence for foreign policy, but also as displays the understanding of how a president struggles with making decisions under the pressure of a having to fight a war with little manpower, weapons, and resources.
