Mastering Mallets: A quest for a new xylophone
Funded Nov 19, 2024Thank you so much for your support in us purchasing a new xylophone for the Peach County High School Band program! My students were very excited when it arrived and couldn't wait to put it to use. They have enjoyed playing on an instrument that is in perfect working condition and sounds amazing. They also take pride in taking great care of it, so it stays in that condition for as long as possible.
As the percussion program grows at Peach County High School, we plan on expanding our mallet and mallet instrument collection. Stay tuned for future projects! Thank you again!”

A Stronger Foundation: Getting Back to the Basics
Funded Aug 18, 2024Thank you so much for supporting the Peach County High School Band Program! The method books that I received through this project have been wonderful editions to our class everyday. We use them to warm-up at the beginning of class and review musical concepts that we find in our concert music. We also use exercises in the books to reinforce rhythms and note patterns that my students may find difficult. Also, I have a couple of students that are learning instruments for the first time this semester. The Standard of Excellence books have made their learning process a great deal easier and they are thriving!”

Peachy Percussion
Funded Dec 11, 2023Thank you so much once again for supporting the Peach County High School Band Program, especially the percussion section! Peach County High School is known for their outstanding band program, and these percussion materials that were funded through this program will help continue that long honored tradition. A couple years ago, the high school moved into a brand new school. It is a wonderful location with great facilities, but a majority of the band equipment is from the old high school.
At the beginning of the school year, we pieced together the percussion equipment that we could, but it was obvious that new items were needed. With the help of your donation, my students have percussion equipment that works! I actually had a senior tell me they had never seen a snare drum stand or cymbal stand that had all of its parts.
Thank you for your continued support!”

To Reed or Not to Reed
Funded Feb 3, 2021Thank you so much for contributing to this project! Many of my students do not have access to reeds, valve oil, and other supplies on a regular basis. With your contribution, we have been able to supply every student with new reeds, cork grease, and/or valve oil when they have needed it.
Also, my students have been so excited about using the tuners. They ask for them at the beginning of class and use them on a regular basis to improve their sound and intonation. I love seeing them ask questions and test themselves when it comes to tuning.
Again, thank you so much for supporting the Rutland Band!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Elliott
Flam-a-Diddle Hush Hush
Funded Aug 11, 2020Thank you so much again for supporting my students and me with this DonorsChoose project! My students were so excited when they first saw all of the practice pads and drumsticks. I have had a small class set of practice pads that students have been allowed to use in previous years, but they are not in very good condition and I have never had enough for the entire class. The students were ecstatic to see that they each got their own brand new practice pad. Also, in years past, they have had to supply their own drumsticks or I have had to buy the students drumsticks myself. The drumsticks from this project are wonderful and just what my students need to be successful in my class.
At this time, I have students that are learning virtually and in person at the same time. The practice pads and drumsticks that you supplied have helped my students be able to participate in class on a daily basis no matter their location. Also, the items have helped keep my students safe and healthy by allowing each student to have his/her own drumsticks and practice pad. They do not have to share these items with any other student, so students do not have to worry about transmitting COVID-19 to each other through the use of these items.
Many of my students and their families struggle to obtain the necessary supplies needed for school, let alone an instrument or other supplies for band class. This project has helped alleviate some of this stress and it means a great deal to my students. I am overwhelmed by the support you all showed for this project, and I cannot wait to start a new one for my woodwind and brass students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Elliott
