My students only wish is to be treated and accepted like everyone else within the school building. They are learning skills and information that almost seemed impossible in their past. They wish to expand their learning opportunities, by growing in the areas of English, writing, and math. Not only core subjects, but my students excel in the kitchen with their life skills activities. They wish to be challenged to read books that would strengthen their reading abilities. The iPad would be a wonderful addition to classroom, especially for my students who struggle with fine motor skills. They would have the adaptive equipment support to scribe via different apps, that support speech to text, and it would also enlarge at a greater text size, for my student who suffers from degenerative eye disorders. My students come from financially low neighborhoods and households, but are striving to make better futures for themselves despite their disabilities. In our classroom, we understand that disabilities are not a limit on capabilities. Everyday they surprise me with the way they recall information and change their thinking, assist their classmates with the classroom work and push through the challenges.
