My students will be learning using a blended model - some students will learn face to face in the classroom two days a week and virtually the other three days per week and some students will learn virtually five days per week. These supplies will be used in the following ways:
The backpacks will be filled with pencils in the pencil pouches, a white board with marker and eraser, headphones, and a notebook. Students will be able to keep their own supplies on hand for safety. Students can also transport these bags to their homes so they will have access to materials while doing virtual learning. The white boards will be really helpful for mathematics practice and allowing me to see students practice in real time. The headphones will allow students to have their own pair for safety as well as hold up better than earbuds which frequently break.
The books on the list will be read aloud to students both in person and virtually. While many fourth graders may be ready to read chapter books, read alouds are still important.
They:
Provide mentor texts for writing and reading lessons
Integrate across the curriculum
Explore authors
Showcase diverse groups
Address social-emotional needs
Connect with current or seasonal events
Build a community
and are Pure fun
Read aloud books will also be very valuable for students learning virtually as some students may not get much reading time at home - I will read these books aloud on video for my students to listen to. I have also made an effort to choose books that feature diverse protagonists, address social-emotional needs, and are relatable for a variety of students.
Finally, the teachers pay teachers gift card will allow me to purchase materials to enrich students' online learning.
