My students are "hooked" on current events. They are constantly watching CNN10 and enjoy reading articles from the New York Times. I have found this increases their vocabulary, gets them asking questions and discussing important big ideas. With this project for tablets and digital subscriptions we will be able to explore differing viewpoints and ideas. They will have the opportunity to choose articles that take them out of the schoolhouse and into the world. With the elections coming up and the global pandemic they can explore reasons and decisions and formulate their own opinions based on evidence.
