Full “STEM” Ahead!
Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you for your generous donation to our new classroom Makerspace. My students, ages 5 and 6, are making the most of all of the supplies and the opportunity to imagine, plan and create their ideas.
It has been so much fun for me to see ideas formed, discussion with peers and trial and error building and creating to a finished product. The kids have worked with partners, small group challenges and on personal projects to create and expand their imaginations.
One of the areas we are working on is to work in a group effort. My class this year tends to work only on something that benefits them personally. I have created team challenges that give the kids the opportunity to complete something together such as structures that would survive rushing waters in the Rainforest or bridges for people to get from one place to another using limited supplies. While some teams flourished, others are still learning to work as a team.
Our Makerspace is being used everyday is one way or another because the kids are so excited about the supplies that we have received. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you again!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Wolf

Ready To Learn!
Funded Aug 12, 2020My initial project was for materials that would help my students during social distancing. However, some of the materials were not available. I did receive the round cushions to offer my students another place and option to sit other than their desk. I did not receive the student lap desks, but did substitute them for some fine motor, hands on alphabet activities. Turns out I needed those items more this year than the desks.
Because my students, like every other student, missed out on those hands on learning opportunities from March to the current school year they need additional practice with letter and number skills. I chose multi sensory activities to help with fine motor skills, letter and number recognition, and tactile learning. We love the Play Doh mats for rolling and forming letters, counting mats for number identification and tactile upper and lower case letter formation cards. They also love, love, love to use the cushions to space themselves out and practice social distancing.
Thank you to all who donated and provided additional learning opportunities!”

Funded Aug 10, 2020Sailing into a New Year Book Boat Tubs have been an absolute thrilling addition to my classroom. The excitement that my students show when we pull them out is adorable! I am so thrilled that the project was able to be fulfilled. It was something I had thought about, but the price to fund on my own was unreachable.
We use the book boats in a variety of ways. First, I really thought they would be a nice addition to our social distancing rules and they are. I can place the boats around the room and maintain the 6' rule. I have found that for some of my wiggliest students the book boats are a perfect way to calm them and help them focus on the task they are working on. The boats are available anytime that my students need a break from their desk, when we want to shake things up at whole group time and for independent learning.
A huge thank you to all the donated! What a fun addition in my classroom this year and for years to come.”

Mrs. Wolf
