Empowering Our News Literacy Skills

It is with gratitude that I write to you all today. As the end of the 2021-2022 school year approaches, I wanted to share how you have helped make the functioning of my classroom smoother and more efficient.

I'll start with the reams of paper. With them I have been able to make classroom sets of reading material and activities for my students that I plan on using again in the future.

The manila file folders have allowed me to not only store my lesson plans in my filing cabinet after I have used them, but I had enough to create student folders for each student's individual work. This is a plus for greater classroom organization.

I particularly enjoyed the sticky note dispenser as I have learned that it limits wastefulness and encourages students to take no more than what they need.

The sticky notes have opened a line of communication between my students and I that does not rob them or me of classroom instruction time. They can put their concerns in the sticky note, and I can read it and respond to them at a better time for both of us.

The set of headphones have been great for those students who are working online on video tutorials that have audio. They allow my students to continue working independently without disturbing the rest of the class.

With my Teachers Pay Teachers gift card I have bought a diverse group of materials about Greece, India, China, and Rome. Your donation has made these ancient civilizations more accessible and fun to my students. Thank you.

Lastly, the TIME Edge Digital Product (magazines) have kept my students informed and curious about current events. They especially liked learning about the Crisis in Ukraine.
