Spring Play: Clue!
Funded Nov 4, 2023It means so much for us to finally be able to put on our very first theatre production. This is the first year we have had a theatre department and the first year we have had high schoolers, so it was a rough start but the students have been so excited to finally have something like this at our school.
Seeing it all come together like this has been so surreal, we cannot thank everyone enough for the donations we have received, the students are already asking about what show we are putting on next year! We hope you all look forward to to what we will do in the future!”

Funded Oct 18, 2022Thank you so much for your kindness. With the new supplies we have done many fun and interesting activities. The students were able to practice painting on different medians. They used glass and canvas to create fun works of art. With the yarn, a hand full of students started to make hats and scarves with some looms that were also donated to the classroom. By far, the class favorite is the drawing markers. The students love using those any chance they get and they really enjoy using the items as a creative outlet.”

Funded Oct 26, 2021I want to formally thank all of you for donating to our first theatre production of The Nutcracker Prince. Unfortunately we had to postpone for next year due to a good bit of the kiddos getting sick and missing rehearsal. We plan to have this production put on next year with everything that was donated. The kiddos were so excited putting up the tree and trying on the costume pieces. As we made the decision to hold off on the production, the kids were so hair we were able to get all those items for their show”

Don't Stop!
Funded Oct 11, 2021thank you so much for all your wonderful donations to my classroom. The students loved the pillows for the small groups. They are excited to go to that area and read or play their math games. I had started to give out the math books with an incentive and kiddos ask for them daily for practice and review. I have one kiddo who is on their 2nd book and is working really hard on it. With math being a real struggle this year, these books are possibly one of the best items I have received for my students.”

Funded Aug 27, 2021Since receiving the items, the students have loved hanging their backpacks on the walls and using the sheet protectors on their group activities. In our reading small groups I print a few copies of the assignment and put them in the protectors, this allows the kiddos to underline words they don't understand as we are reading and go back to discuss it. When we first received the items the kiddos didn't have much of a reaction, that is until I started setting up everything, now they are excited to use everything. I was able to give each kiddo a folder to keep all of their assignments in and even have extra for them to keep another folder in the classroom. It helps them stay organized and ready for the day. It is greatly appreciated.”

Funded Nov 23, 2020In this time of COVID it is very hard to reach the children through a zoom class. Recently my campus has had 45% capacity for our students. The students online, I make sure the have any text on the screen for them to follow along and read and my kiddos in class sanitize in between and get to read material when we do groups.
When reading with online kiddos we take turns to popcorn read so they feel they are still apart of the classroom. Unfortunately a lot of the times the internet makes the kiddos laggy and hard to understand, so mostly the kids in class read a loud and the online kids follow along. The kiddos are always eager to read aloud.
All the kiddos on campus are excited any time I get new books in. Some have not read at all since quarantine so anytime there is a story or a poem all of them volunteer to read. I have a few online kiddos who use the website EPIC to read but not all the kids have access to it, so the books and stories in class are always exciting for them.”

Funded Sep 14, 2020in this time of Covid we are relying heavily on online learning. The students and teachers have had to learn how to use Zoom, google classroom, and google documents. This technology allows me to present to my 4th graders lessons and give out practice and homework, though it is hard to keep them engaged when they are so many distraction at home. My school in particular recently started doing a hybrid model, so my kiddos who are able to come to campus safety absolutely prefer being at school than being online. Though they do still need to perform some activities through their computer they are grateful to be able to come to campus.
My friends on campus love the items that were generously donated from donors choose. The math posters help them to see how to do certain problems step by step. The schedule helps them know what the plans are for the day and what specials they have, and the bins help organize lessons, if they need to look back at a lesson we can go to the bins and grab it to review.
Unfortunately, 98% of my kiddos do not like online learning and I can not blame them. The internet is so laggy they miss what I say sometimes, they see classmates in class and they wish they could be there too. I think most of all they miss the interaction with each other and with all their teachers. School life right now is just not the same and all of us can feel that. I know once they are all able to return back they will be so happy and ecxited, but for right now I know we just have to do our best to ensure all the kiddos have an equal opportunity for education.”
