  • Supported, Engaged, & Connected: The Tools We Need to Succeed

    First and foremost, thank you for seeing a need and supporting it. Our students are some of the best I have taught in my 19 years of education and they deserve all the help we can offer. Thank you for being part of the community that supports us. We know that you did not have to donate to our cause and we are thankful.

    Thank you for the positive impact you are having on our students' mental health. Students have been able to log in and use some of our district's resources on the iPad now that we are cellphone free school. Because of your generous donation, I have set up a cozy space in my classroom where students can sit and relax, watch some calming videos or access school resources to help strengthen and support their mental health. Sometimes students just need space and time to decompress, just like we do. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to give this to our students. A secondary benefit is that since our cellphones have been locked in pouches and students couldn't translate anymore, this has allowed my limited English proficient and non-English speaking students the opportunity to use the tablet to help translate their needs, which has immensely helped with easing their frustration during class as well. What an unforeseen and added bonus!

If I can get the copies, I'd love to have my students read this text along with a couple articles for my Freedom and Justice unit. Once they have chosen their articles, they will use this anchor text as way to create a lesson that would engage their classmates in a rhetorical analysis task, argument task, or a service project that would connect with the text and the article. Since my school is over 60% free and reduced price lunches, we aren't allowed to make them buy books for class. With the budget cuts, we aren't able to buy new text. And with Covid, I need them to have a copy of something in case we go remote. Please make this happen for my kids and my school. I would be so very grateful!
