  • Interactive Math Activities for Special Education Students

    Funded Mar 23, 2022

Thank you so much for your help! These math materials will go a long way in helping my students to interact with numbers in a meaningful way. We can't wait for the materials to arrive so that they can start having some math fun. Thanks again! We love it.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rios

  • Making Distance Learning Meaningful to Moderate-Severe Special Education Students

    Funded Nov 23, 2020

I want to thank you for your generous donation. The new materials I was able to purchase for our classroom have gone a long way to increase the engagement of my students while were were on distance learning. While this learning environment is never ideal for my students, providing them with hands-on materials that they are able to interact with has really made a difference. While we are now back to school in person, I saw a noticeable difference in my students' engagement and success in mastering new skills.

Now that we are back in the classroom, these materials continue to be extremely useful. Hands-on learning is vital for my students in all settings, as this is, by and large, the best way for them to learn and understand new concepts. I appreciate your generosity so much, and I know my students do too.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rios

This classroom project was brought to life by Allstate Foundation.
My students learn best with hands on activities and typically need a lot of supports - physical, communication, positioning, and verbal prompting are a part of their normal school day; without assistance, accessing our curriculum is extremely difficult, if not impossible, for my class. Now that we are moving to an online only, distance learning format for our return to school this fall, my moderate-severe special education students face a great deal of challenges - staring at the screen while I teach from their computer screens is not meaningful to them. The students will be able to interact with an manipulate these materials will allow them to continue to experience school with hands-on learning, and I will be able to make our lessons much more interactive and engaging through the use of interactive digital activities and storyboard puppets.
