More Art at LRJSHS!
Funded Sep 15, 2020Thanks to your donations, I was able to purchase dry and oil pastels as well as watercolor paints for my students to experiment with. They arrived just in time for me to be able to send them home when our school district had to switch to distance learning in December. The new supplies provided a much-needed distraction, a novelty when we need something new to get us through distance learning between the holidays.
During distance learning, the art class met twice each week over Zoom. At the first meeting, I would take them through how to use the medium of the week. Some students loved using dry pastels for the first time, while others preferred the oil pastels. One student in particular found out that she especially loves dry pastel over pretty much every other media she's tried. Watercolor was harder to teach over zoom, but students were able to grasp the techniques for that, too. The biggest challenge was providing students with the correct type of paper for each media, but that was surmountable because of your help in purchasing the media themselves.
Because of your donations, my students were able to create art even in difficult circumstances. Thank you so, so much.”

Let There Be Art!
Funded Aug 9, 2020Thank you so much for your donations! My students were so excited to receive these shiny new art materials to work with! I have checked out a box to each student, and we've already started on our first project of the year, our Elements of Art booklet.
It cannot be understated how important and integral art is to education. No student, at Lost River or anywhere else, should have to go without. Thanks to you, my students are getting an opportunity that they might not normally be able to receive.
Thank you again on behalf of 16 7th graders who are excited to start the year, and the other half of the 7th grade that I'll get to see next semester!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Spark-Stahl
