So much of what we read in English is not a great representation of the students' lives that I teach. These book selections offer an opportunity for minority students to find literature where they can see themselves, as well as expose other students to different cultures. Students will be able to check books out to take home or read in class. I'm hoping to implement more narrative writing into the classroom, so these books will help them understand the characteristics of narrative writing better and help them craft their own.
