Keeping the Germs Away
Funded Aug 17, 2020Thank you for your gifts of a germ free environment for my students. With your help we now have air purifiers for our room, wipes, hands free soap dispensers, and a pencil dispenser to aid in our fight against germs! The DeQueen Elementary Art family is so excited about these essential items that you have gifted us.
We will be using wipes and soap dispensers daily to clean desk areas/chairs to aid in keeping all germs away. Having two hands free soap dispensers to help accomplish our goal of a germ free environment is extremely important to our Art class. Every student will have the safety of washing their hands with a touchless dispenser. This will create less contact with surfaces for students. Students will also use wipes to cleanse their seating areas as to cut down on the amount of germs that are in their work space.
Some extra things that we were excited to receive from our donors were a pencil dispenser and air purifiers. Having a pencil dispenser has cut down on the amount of germ contact for students, and other pencils that students use. The air purifiers help keep our air space clean and free of germs that are carried through the air.
Once again, we thank our donors so very much for gifting our class a germ free environment. These gifts have given some relieve in this very stressful time , and not just to me (the educator) but to my students too. Everyday we are reminded of your kindness when we wash our hands, wipe our tables, and grab a pencil. Our gratitude for you is gigantic , just like your hearts! Thank all of you so very much!”
With gratitude,

Funded Aug 12, 2020I don't know if any of you like to paint? We do in Mrs. Lemser's art class! At the beginning of the year, we received instructions that we could not share supplies in Art . We are a very large bunch, and live in an area that is very high poverty. Art is an escape for so many students, and a reason to come to school. We love to explore different mediums and techniques in class. That is why receiving the watercolor set was very vital to our growth in our classroom.
When students saw the Amazon boxes piled in our art class, they were sooooo excited. We began distributing every student their individual watercolor set that day. Each set was added to their Art kits. The added addition of watercolor sets to my students kits brought joy and a sparkle to their eyes. This item meant that they would not just be stuck using Crayola crayons to create for the 2020-2021 school year. You could hear the glee in the halls as news spread about the watercolor sets being added to the kits. The students loved that they came in their own little individual wrappers , and the added touch that the handles of the brush had glitter specks inside of it.
The watercolors sets will be used to create backgrounds in graffiti projects, landscape paintings, and cards at Christmas. They will also aid is experimentation with different wet and dry mediums in art. Ms. Lemser's art students can not thank you enough for helping fund their Watercolor Set project. You have brought so much happiness into our classroom with your support!”
