Since students come from low-income homes, many families are not able to provide students with the necessary resources to work at home and also at school. This academic year presents a unique challenge for schools, classrooms, teachers, students, and families as we all attempt to navigate through the uncharted waters of a worldwide pandemic. Students and families need support both in and out of the classroom. Schools are not only a space for learning but also provide support for students emotionally, mentally, and physically. I want to be able to provide my students and their families with schools supplies so that they feel some relief during this stressful and scary time. Students, no matter where they are, should have access to supplies that help them to achieve their academic goals. Students are unable to learn if they do not feel safe and secure. By providing students with their own personal supplies, they will be able to learn at home and also be protected from contracting and/or spreading COVID-19 when at school.
