With the threat of COVID-19 at large, especially now that we are going back to the classroom environment, one of the best ways to keep students safe and provide them that comfortable environment is through HEPA air purifiers. These filters will allow students to enter the classroom environment and participate with their fellow students, something they all need to ensure their future success.
The safety of my students is my number one priority. My classroom is about 4,000 square feet, which is great for social distancing, but it still lacks the proper circulation for protection from the disease. Actually, there is so much space for these droplets to travel, that there may be more risk for COVID-19 to affect the students that multiple HEPA filters will be needed to protect them.
HEPA, which stands for high-efficiency particulate air, is the standard that describes most air purifier filters currently sold in the US. To meet the standard and ensure protection, a filter must remove 99.97% of particles in the air that are 0.3 micrometers in size (a particularly difficult size to filter). Pollen, smoke particulates and aerosol droplets that can transmit COVID can all be filtered out of the air with such a filter. With this, my students can come to class in person and learn so much better than they would online at home with multiple distractions.
It is true, an Air Purifier is not the only answer, but with these purifiers, my students will have that in-person experience they need and deserve while providing that comfort for the parents at home.
Their safety is the number one concern. If we can make them feel comfortable in the classroom with the filter’s extra security and protection, that is the best, most worthwhile investment a teacher can make.
