Thank you so much for helping us fund our project. • Diverse Library in Kindergarten

    Funded Aug 13, 2020

I was excited to received books that my students can identify themselves with. It was super important for me to have a diverse library for my diverse kindergarteners. When I read the book "Me On The Map "to my students they immersed themselves into conversations about their community and places they would like to visit.

Also, they enjoyed all the read aloud about feelings, they are able to choose a book from a culturally diverse reading basket. Not only are they able to choose a book, but they can make connections with their stories and their personalities.

Thank you for funding my project, you helped me provide a diverse library for a diverse group of kindergarteners.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lopez

  • Back to School for Blended Learning!

    Funded Aug 13, 2020

When I received the email that my project was fully funded I was super excited. My students and I are so grateful for your generosity. We received the new materials in perfect timing because we were getting ready to return to school for our blended learning learning model. During these difficult times students know that they cannot share materials due to COVID-19. They were delighted to have their pencil pouch with their own supplies.

Nonetheless, our families were beyond grateful because their children will not be sharing materials in the classroom. In addition, each family received a pencil pouch with crayons, pencils, glue sticks, dry and erase markers and their personal whiteboard. They will use these materials at home and in school.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and generous donations and for making this possible for our students during these difficult times.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lopez

Students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. As Kindergartners in a dual language program books are so important. Not only are books important, but books in which students can identify themselves with the characters and their stories. Many of my students do not have access to books at home and rely on our classroom library to read high-quality books. Books are very important in Kindergarten because students are beginning to fall in love with reading, and most of them are learning how to read their favorite books. There is a buzz about books and an excitement for reading in our school.
