Going to school in New York City has many, many perks. BUT, clean classroom air in the middle of a global pandemic is not one of them! Our classrooms need professional grade air purifiers. This Austin Air Purifier has been used to clean the air for first responders during other national crises (9-11, Hurricane Katrina, Superstorm Sandy) and are used in children's hospitals across the country.
NYC school buildings are old and lack proper ventilation. Most don't have working HVAC systems. While our school will strictly adhere to CDC guidelines by sanitizing surfaces and enforcing social distancing, we need more than that. We need effective air circulation and filtration. According to Linsey Marr, an environmental engineer and professor at Virginia Tech, “In theory, if an air purifier removes viruses from the air, it reduces concentrations in the room and thus reduces the potential for exposure.”
We need your help to keep our 6th grade classroom safe so that students and teachers can return to classrooms with confidence.
