  • Color Ink!

    Funded Aug 10, 2024

Thank you again for supporting my students! I am so excited to meet my new classes this year and they will be thrilled to have color ink for our printer! It makes such a big difference to have access to color printing directly in our classroom. Looking forward to the school year ahead!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Maginnis

  • Learning in Color!

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Thank you again for your generous donation to my Donor's Choose campaign. Because of you, my students now have easy and immediate access to color printing. I cannot tell you how much they LOVE this! It is so exciting for them to both get handouts in color and to create work online that they can then print in color. It has really made a big difference in their Reading, Writing and Social Studies notebooks. They have also created several projects about the books they are reading that they printed in full color for the first time ever.

    We all appreciate your gift.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Maginnis

  • Clean Air for Kids!

    Funded Aug 12, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donation during a very scary time. With your help, I was able to provide the highest quality air purifiers to allow students the breathe clean air in my classroom as we transitioned back to in person learning.

Despite all of the challenges we have faced over the past three years, your donation has continued to make it possible to worry just a little less. Our school's roof is currently under renovation and because of that and the necessary scaffolding, we are often exposed to a lot of dust and debris. The air purifiers have continued to run around the clock over the course of the last two school years and our classroom air remains clean. I am forever grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Maginnis

Going to school in New York City has many, many perks. BUT, clean classroom air in the middle of a global pandemic is not one of them! Our classrooms need professional grade air purifiers. This Austin Air Purifier has been used to clean the air for first responders during other national crises (9-11, Hurricane Katrina, Superstorm Sandy) and are used in children's hospitals across the country. NYC school buildings are old and lack proper ventilation. Most don't have working HVAC systems. While our school will strictly adhere to CDC guidelines by sanitizing surfaces and enforcing social distancing, we need more than that. We need effective air circulation and filtration. According to Linsey Marr, an environmental engineer and professor at Virginia Tech, “In theory, if an air purifier removes viruses from the air, it reduces concentrations in the room and thus reduces the potential for exposure.” We need your help to keep our 6th grade classroom safe so that students and teachers can return to classrooms with confidence.
