The books I requested will serve as read-alouds during distance learning and when we are back in the classroom all students will be able to access them. It is essential for students to have diverse literature. It makes a difference in their learning because it provides a more realistic and inclusive view into reality versus the common white narrative many books show. The books I selected highlight leaders, inventors, activists and everyday youth as characters that they can relate to and learn more about. I am hoping to enhance our class library with more culturally relevant books that will engage and excite young readers. Thank you.
