Characters Come To Life!
Funded Oct 3, 2024When the students came in and saw all of the materials that we had gotten donated to use for all kinds character projects, they were thrilled! They talked about how they have had to character reports before and different kinds of book reports but they had never gotten to use model clay to help them make their book characters come to life. And this led to even more reading. They were researching different ways to use the clay and techniques to manipulate the clay in unique ways. They especially proud to share their work with other students and teachers.”

Get Comfy and Read Awhile
Funded Oct 3, 2024My students were so excited to see all the new and comfortable items that we had gotten to read with and to read on. The first morning that they came in after I had put all the rugs and cushions and shelves out their eyes lit up! They immediately began asking me questions like, is this new stuff for us, how did you get all of this, when can we start using it??!! Having items like this in the room for them to use while they are reading really does encourage them to read more. It gives them a chance to get up out of their chair and get comfy and read!”

Funded Oct 3, 2024My students were so excited to see all the new and different graphic novels that we had gotten to add to our shelves. We spent several days doing book passes with them. A book pass is where the students get about thirty seconds to preview the book and then mark on a book pass form what their first impression on the book is and if it is something they might like to read in the future. After we did book passes with all of them, we added book label protection to them and now they are available for the students to read and enjoy!!”

Funded Mar 17, 2023The students absolutely love the new equipment to they get to use to see their creations come to life. It is excellent up to date technology available to them.
They can't wait for their breaks and their chance to come in and use the new printer. Not only can they use their creative skills to design items, they then get to actually see their vision come to life.
They love this new addition to our school and without help to procure it, it would not be not be here for their use. ”

No Shelf Control!
Funded Mar 30, 2023The students absolutely love walking by the book machine every day to see what new books have been placed inside. We try to keep a fresh rotation of books stocked so that if there wasn't something a student was interested in reading last week, maybe there will be the following week.
They are curious about what books are there. They are also working hard to earn a token to be able to get a book out of the machine.
They love this new addition to our school and without help to fill it up, it would not be the same!”

Funded Jan 23, 2023The Build It project was a huge hit with my students. We were first able to talk about following instructions and how important that can be. They were then able to use the instruction booklets to build objects using those instructions. After that, we talked about, yes, following instructions is an important skill, but another important and awesome skill is using your imagination. They were super excited by the idea of freedom with the Legos. They were able to take their skills from building with instructions and apply that with their imaginations to come up with some very amazing build projects!
Overall, a huge success!!
Thank you!!!”

Polly Wolly 3D Doodle All The Day
Funded Oct 30, 2020The 3D pens that we received for this project have been amazing for the students of Scranton. They were very excited to see them and get started using them. They quickly discovered that it was not something they could pick up and be immediate experts with. And so that forced them to become problem solvers. To figure out different methods of using the pens to create different styles and outcomes. They became the most exited about the pens after they realized that the things they could create with them were limitless. The students that took to the pens the most were the quiet ones. And the pens gave them a quite, peaceful, creative outlet.
Thank you so much for brining this technology and creativity to my students!!”

Funded Aug 4, 2020Students come into the library everyday at lunch and randomly throughout the rest of the day. They loved seeing the stationary bikes in there for the first time and continue to love using them.
Students that come in for lunch will pedal as they eat their lunch. Others that don't a lunch will pedal as they visit with their friends and enjoy their break. Still others will pedal as the do homework.
Classes that come in to read love pedaling as they read. They tell me it keeps their mind going. Usually they want to close their eyes and nap after a few pages but being able to keep their body going helps keep their minds going as well.
Thank you so much!
The desk bikes are loved and being put to great use!!”
