This is my first year independently teaching 6th grade. Although I already have a great rapport with my students from my past year as a paraprofessional. I want to ensure that my students have the essential supplies needed to expand their learning. My students come from an area where not every household can afford basic school supplies, therefore the cost falls onto the teacher. On my list I have basic supplies, such as pencils. Headphones are great for the students because it gives them freedom to work independently on assignments, control the volume while they work and use headphones to block out other noises. Each classroom in my school has a "Calming Corner" and with that, teachers supply fidgets for students when they need to calm down for a brief amount of time. On my list includes fidgets and sensory objects for students that are age appropriate for my classroom.
