Everyday we walk around an amazing world with "little" thought into what is truly surrounding us. Students enjoy learning and working when they are genuinely curious and excited about experiences in which they are interacting. The Carson MP250 microscope allows students to peer into the micro-world in a way they have not experienced! Being given the capability to see up to 250X times smaller with a portable, wireless hand held device spurs curiosity and interest in what may seem like the most mundane of objects. This tool can be weaved into all topics that are covered from comparing particle size of sediment to what organisms are in the local soil and water bringing an unseen world into light. We also cover force and motion in the 6th grade. Students will have a chance to look up from studying to experience the joy of engineering, problem solving and rocketry! Using the altimeter to measure altitude of rockets students will be able to test fin setup, engine size, etc. These rockets will provide a robust cumulative task for our physics unit where they can cheer each other on and work on designing rockets.
