  • Welcome to Kindergarten!

    Funded Apr 13, 2024

The gift of what you've given my class knows no limits. My students have shown growth with reading and math and their Map Test Scores show that. The supplies you've blessed my class with have helped them be confident in gaining knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. They have learned that being in school, as they are kindergarteners, is not a thing to be afraid of. I have students who at the end of the day say that learning is fun and they don't wish to go home!

The special chairs for my student who has medical issues have been a complete blessing. My student feels included when it's time to sit on the map with the other students and have "center time" or "calendar time". He feels as if he's an active part of our family. That's because of the blessings that you've provided for my class.

The headphones have been a gift because they are used with a new program introduced to our school. It's called "My Math/Reading Academy". With the headphones, my students can hear the program and learn from it with clarity. Not only are they helpful in hearing of my students but it helps them to learn their color names as they are anything but bland!

I cannot thank you enough for the gifts and the patience you've had with this letter. You are all a true blessing!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rivarde

  • For the Love of Reading!

    Funded Nov 16, 2022

I can't thank you enough for giving my students the gift of the books! My students who initially were not enthusiastic about reading are now wishing to read! My students are excited about reading and have a new passion for reading. They're now asking, "Mrs. Rivarde, can we just read?!" It makes my heart sing!

The students who've been impacted the most are my struggling students. Because of the fact that they were able to receive their own copy of the same book, it gave them a "purpose." It gave them a goal to achieve to be on grade level with the rest of the class! It inspired them. And donors, for that, I will ALWAYS be grateful. Thank you so much for being a blessing to not only my class, but my heart.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rivarde

  • Rivarde's Rigorous Writers!

    Funded Oct 14, 2021

I can't thank you enough for how you've impacted and helped my students to love reading even more. The minute they received the books, they yelled so loudly that they could be heard all the way in Reno! :0)This helped me to introduce and tie in my Mythology Unit with my students. As a result, they are being exposed to not only Greek Mythology, but Norse, Egyptian, and Roman, as well as, discovering other Mythologies for themselves.

On Wednesdays, we've dedicated that day to our "Read-A-Thon" Day, where the students sit within the classroom or outside if weather permits, and read their Sword of Summer Books. They sit in a group with friends and "Chat and Chew" while noshing on a yummy snack, and discuss the chapter, character, setting, and themes. They also tell how it can incorporate with their own Mythology Projects.

I can't single out just one of my students who's enjoying the book as ALL of them are enjoying it. We have a saying with some of the books we've read in my class: "Trust no one!". We LOVE books with cliffhangers, adventures, excitement, and a wee bit of villainy, This book has ALL of those elements and more. Each student, from my high fliers, to my learning to love student readers are enjoying the book. SO much so that they are reading ahead without me! I don't mind it ONE BIT!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rivarde

My students have returned from being distance learners to loving learners who encourage each other as we've become our own Book Club Family! I would love to give each student their own copy of the "Book of the Month", Rick Riordan's "Daughter of the Deep"! Right now, we're reading "Amari and the Night Brothers" and I could only afford to buy the read-aloud for two students and all want their own copy. I now have a class of students who are disappointed when it's time to stop reading! Please help!
