Art has not been in the curriculum for several years, and I feel extremely grateful for the opportunity to bring it back for the 2020-21 academic year. While art class is a great space for creativity and self-expression, it is also a cultivating environment for critical-thinking, problem-solving, and self-discipline. With the supplies listed, students will be able to create a multitude of art-pieces: pencil drawings (both simple and in-depth), watercolor paintings, acrylic paintings on both paper and canvas, both oil and chalk pastel creations, and so much more! I look most forward to witnessing the sense of accomplishment students will experience when they have struggled through, and successfully completed, a work of art. That sense of achievement is a wonderful confidence-booster that may very well transfer into other areas of their academic and non-academic pursuits.
