These materials will be used to both assist my students with literacy instruction inside the classroom and from their own homes. School closures due to COVID-19 have presented challenges for our students to continue to receive adequate supplementary reading supports. Many of my students are reading well-below grade-level expectations and I am hoping to continue to help them make progress, as well as continue to develop their social-emotional awareness. I will use these resources to plan individualized literacy lessons for my students to help them bridge gaps between themselves and their grade-level peers. I will provide my students with phonics lessons and the foam letters will be used for students to be able to manipulate sounds. The hope is that the pencil and notebook materials can be transferred between school and home in the event of a hybrid educational setting. I am also hoping to provide my students with at least 2 books to keep at their homes to begin building an at-home classroom library to allow them to continue to practice their reading. I am hoping to receive hands-on resources that my students can use to manipulate letters and sounds, both in-person and in a virtual setting.
