During a recent writing prompt about how to make our school better, a student presented the idea of each student having a plant to take care of. Her argument was that it could teach the students responsibility and help earn the teachers' trust through caring for the plants daily. Help the students grow while they grow their very own flowers. It may not seem like much, but I know they would love to take on the extra responsibility each day. The science lessons that would go with this are endless. The writing and journaling lessons we be year-long. I can't wait to see their faces as they watch each flower bloom.
