While it may seem silly putting an air conditioning unit on a class list, it's become a necessary item. Our school building has no air conditioning. My classroom was recently renovated to remove the asbestos ceiling and floor tiles, and in doing so, they took out the ceiling fans. I was told these would not be replaced. Our building gets very toasty in the summer reaching temperatures of 90+ degrees on some days. As you can imagine, when you're not comfortable, it's difficult to learn let alone learn during a pandemic. My students often leave my room dripping sweat only to go onto another room that is equally and uncomfortably hot. I would love to give my kids a break from the heat.
