  • Math Is Fun When We Light It Up!

    Funded Sep 7, 2022

The light table trays and manipulatives that were donated to my classroom have been a big hit with my students! I was able to unpack the trays and pieces and immediately put them to use at my light table center. The trays have definitely helped my students improve their skills in counting, sorting, and creating patterns while having fun at the light table.

The students really enjoy using the translucent pattern blocks to create shapes and pictures. Most of my students are now able to use the translucent numbers to show quantities of shapes and other objects on the light table.

I will continue to use the light table trays, numbers, and pattern blocks all year as my students' math skills increase. Thank you to all the donors who generously donated to my classroom.”

  • Tempera Sticks Make Painting Easy and Fun!

    Funded Jun 17, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to my classroom project. The tempra sticks that were donated to my classroom have made drawing and painting during art time easy and fun! My students have been able to manipulate the tempra sticks in such a way that their fine motor skills are showing consistent improvement. My students are able to paint with much more precision, in turn helping them while they use normal kid-sized paint brushes.

Upon first using our new tempra sticks, there was a little hesitation, because students thought they could use them like crayons. But once they got the hang of outlining, blending colors, and shading with actual paint, they are now able to use the tempra sticks easily and effectively.

I will use the tempra sticks with my students as we complete our various projects throughout the year. Thank you again to all the donors for their generosity in funding my project.”

  • Virtual Learning Can Be Fun!

    Funded Aug 17, 2020

My students are so happy to be using the materials I was able to purchase on Teachers Pay Teachers. My purchases consisted of digital materials that I frequently use online during Zoom, as well as materials that I upload to our online learning platform.

My students get so excited when I start up an online Zoom game! The Zoom games I share online let my students practice language arts and math concepts such as rhyming words, patterns, initial letter sounds, colors, shapes, and number sense. I also use materials I purchased on Teacher Pay Teachers to upload many language arts, math, social studies, and science activities onto my students' online accounts so that they are able to reinforce concepts while learning at home.

I would like to continue to use digital activities to help my students access the curriculum while learning at home, but I foresee being able to also use digital activities with my students once we return to the physical classroom. I greatly appreciate your help and support of my classroom with the purchase of these necessary resources.”

  • We Can't Zoom With All of This Noise!

    Funded Sep 21, 2020

The headphones my students received through this project have been invaluable to their learning while online. Many students who were hesitant to "unmute" themselves during Zoom class can now talk freely and share due to the headphones cancelling out the noise heard in their environment.

The headphones my students received are perfect for them in every way--the size is just right for a Pre-Kindergarten student to wear comfortably, and they all loved the blue color that was sent to them. Some students were wearing inexpensive headphones from the dollar store with foam coverings that would slip off and render the headphones useless. Their new headphones are sturdy enough for daily use and have very good sound quality.

I am so grateful for my students' ability to actively listen, talk, and enjoy their class time online without being distracted by their home environment. I really appreciate your donation to my project.”

  • Let's Dance and Make Some Noise!

    Funded Sep 2, 2020

Music and movement in our Zoom class is fun and exciting now, since we've been using our bells, scarves, rhythm sticks, and egg shakers! Every morning my students learn about rhythm and tempo while using our new musical instruments, and dancing with scarves has greatly improved everyone's motor skills.

Upon seeing the bag full of new instruments, my students were SO excited to use them. At first they needed a few minutes to play around, shake, and tap their new instruments in order to get the wiggles out. As time has passed, I've noticed that my students have really built up their coordination as we use the instruments in our weekly lessons.

I really enjoy being able to see my students' enthusiasm for music and dance while online. It definitely adds fun, laughter, and excitement to our Zoom classes, which is exactly what students need right now. I am so grateful for your help in funding this project.”

  • Counting Beans and Cereal Is a Little Boring!

    Funded Sep 30, 2020

My students are enjoying Math again! The manipulative counters are being used every day to count, sort into groups by color and type, and for patterning. They are so easy to use in our Math lessons, as they are contained in a plastic jar with a lid, and parents have told me that they find them fun to use with their children.

At first, my students couldn't believe that they had a collection of plastic animals just like their teacher. They were so excited to begin using them on the ten frame grids that we use for counting and showing numbers. We've begun to use them for higher-level math concepts such as adding and subtracting from a group of objects.

I plan on incorporating the use of manipulatives at home in my weekly lessons. I can assign problems that students can solve using their animal manipulatives, where they can show their problem-solving strategy and upload as a photo to our online learning platform. I'm so grateful to have received your help in purchasing these manipulatives for my students.”

The majority of my students reside in cramped apartments and small homes, oftentimes sharing common living spaces with many family members. This kind of living situation doesn't usually lend itself to a quiet, student-centered environment. My students need a way to drown out the noise at home in order to focus during distance learning. During Zoom meetings, my preschoolers often can't hear me or their classmates due to excessive background noise. A set of headphones would allow my students the ability to listen during our Zoom meetings together, without the outside distractions that often interfere with participation and engagement. This much-needed equipment will ensure that my students receive an equal opportunity for success during this challenging time.
