Creative Learning Needed
Funded Aug 9, 2022Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. This was a valuable resource for me as it was my first year teaching fourth grade at a new school. The pictures I sent contain images of the students using hands on activities to learn math skills. some of the activities included learning how to add and subtract with decimals playing a "real life" version of the game of Life. Students also were able to play math games related to the skill of the week to help reinforce their learning in a fun and engaging way.
The donated money helped me create hands-on math games and project-based learning opportunities for my students. Some of those projects included relating fractions and decimals in a fraction art project. Our school mascot is a turtle so we visited the turtle garden one day and students used another project to create turtle houses using perimeter and area. These projects helped the students learn in a different way and the students loved these activities!
Again, I thank everyone so much for their donations. It really did help me think outside the box and come up with some creative ideas for teaching math to my fourth graders. I could not have completed this project without your donations. My students also thank you because they have enjoyed all of the math centers the school year. Thanks again!”

Funded Jul 30, 2020The impact that my Donor's Choose project had was that it greatly helped provide my students enrichment and extension opportunities. These opportunities were used mostly during asynchronous and independent work sessions. The goal of gifted education in my county is to have students work on independent skills and independent learning opportunities. As a new teacher to this position having readily available resources was a great help. I am the only teacher in my school that teaches this curriculum and I don't have a team to use for planning and idea creation. Having resources available through Teachers Pay Teachers, paid for by my Donor's Choose project, was invaluable to me during this very different school year.
Additionally, the resources available on teachers pay teachers helped me remediate students when the need arose since our schools closed well before the end of last school year due to the global pandemic. Having remediation tools at the ready through Teachers Pay Teachers and Donor's Choose was a timesaver and an instrumental instructional support for students who had missed some of the content in the previous year that is needed for success this school year. This school year we have been teaching virtually for a good portion of the year and then through a hybrid model. The hybrid model in our county requires teachers to teach students in person and virtually at the same time. This is taking a great amount of planning and having resources pre-prepared for me has been a great timesaver, especially with the accelerated and advanced curriculum I am required to teach.
I have enclosed a few pictures of my students working in the classroom once we returned to in person instruction through the hybrid model. Mostly though I have included pictures of their work. As you can see the enrichment opportunities were varied between creation of newspapers based on stories they have read and our novel unit studies. Having these resources also allowed students to be creative through writing and poetry; to be able learn the different types of poetry skills and how to re-create them using their own voice. All in all, this Donor's Choose project has been a tremendous resource for me and has benefitted my students. I thank all of my donors for this opportunity and for their generosity.”
