GPS’s ultimate goal is to teach reading skills to all students while inspiring a love for reading. COVID-19 has forced school closure thus creating greater need for quality individualized instruction. We want struggling readers as well as proficient readers to have access to not only grade appropriate instruction but also engaging reading materials. Goals for "Eggscellent Readers" include: (1) to build and enhance reading skills that include knowledge and understanding. (2) to support core literacy goals and state standards (3) to build essential phonics and phonemic awareness skills (4) to address different learning styles of students.
