My students with Autism benefit greatly through visual supports and tangible items such as matching, cutting, and colorful icons that they can generalize throughout their daily functioning. They require visual schedules to help keep them structured and on schedule throughout the day, anchor charts with visual icons so that they can generalize concepts learned in the classroom, and worksheets where they can match items, work on their cutting skills and so on. With the onset of online learning, there are several barriers that my students have been faced with: for instance, sitting at a computer for a long period of time, learning how to operate a website and especially the absence of physical and increased support from their teachers. It is my hope that with this printer, I can provide my students with all of the items they will be missing out on while they are out of the classroom. It is my goal to make learning at home as successful as possible, with as many tools that I can provide for them. Therefore, with this printer, I can print out visuals and worksheets to send to my students that their parents might not be able to afford to print themselves. This will help my students reach their learning goals through their IEPs and academic instruction, so that they can utilize these items independently in their homes.
