Whether we are remote or live, each student will need some of their own supplies so that our work can be productive, meaningful and so that I can optimize the time we have together. If we are in person, if each child is able to have their own supplies, it will minimize the time I will need to clean between students, allowing for more treatment time. If they are remote, I have learned in the last few months how much of a difference there is when they have what they need to do the work they need to do! I have included items that can each be used in multiple ways to help develop fine motor, visual motor, and visual processing skills for students who need the support. I have included Pompoms for sorting by hand (pincer grasp) or with tongs (improving their ability to grasp a pencil, use scissors, etc. as well as visual-motor and visual processing skills) or with clothespins (all of the above, with more hand strengthening). I have included crayons and colored pencils to color their worlds beautiful as we work on so many different skills as mentioned above. And the list continues. Whether strengthening their hands or their focus or their minds, I will use these OT tools to help each student to feel a little better about themselves, improve their skills needed to be successful in the classroom and to help them be more available to learn and participate in school.
