My current classroom library was donated by neighbors or bought at yard sales and the majority of those books feature white children or animals. I would like to make my library more representative of the students who interact with the books. I believe that when students can see themselves in literature they are more likely to develop connections with the text. Students of color need to be represented in the books that they are reading and the curriculum that they are being taught. Please help me make sure that my little learners can excel this year and for years to come by helping me to diversify my book selections.
