Kindness and acceptance are two things that children are born with, but in an ever-changing world, sometimes those lessons are lost. I want to work harder to create a safe space in my classroom for all students to feel accepted, welcomed, and loved. These books already have a home in my classroom, because I know how they will be utilized and cherished. I will use these materials to create lessons and give examples to my students of others who worked hard to make a difference. I will also use these books to implement more opinionated and creative writing within my classroom. I believe these materials will help me achieve my goal of teaching my young learners about diversity, acceptance, and awareness of others. By implementing these materials in my every-day teaching, students will feel more comfortable having discussions with each other and myself about diversity. They will learn more about their own cultures and how to be open-minded about others, embrace differences, and work together.
