I work with first-grade students who, as we all know, are not the most aware of keeping their workspace or hands clean! However, due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, it is necessary to ensure that when my students return to school, they are safe and have every advantage possible to learn. I feel it is important for students to still be able to see one another as they learn, and I want them to be able to do this safely. I also have to work with small groups of struggling as well as advanced learners to meet their educational needs and would like for them to be able to clearly see one another and me as we work together.
It is incredibly valuable for students to be able to see one another, as well as me the teacher, as they learn in the classroom setting.
Sadly, our classroom settings are changing due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak. Students are now required to learn with barriers such as face masks and social distancing. I want to ensure my students have a classroom environment where they can still see and learn from one another, even with protective barriers present.
Having barriers that are clear and moveable will allow me to meet with small groups, rearrange the classroom safely as needed and keep the students safe while at school.
The plexiglass will have holes drilled so they can attach, using zip ties, to the rolling clothes racks. These transparent, portable barriers can be used throughout this school year, and even in future school years if needed. They will provide an additional safety measure to both students and myself.
