Learning With Each Other Through Play!
Funded Sep 29, 2022Thank you so much for your donation, our students are enjoying using the materials! They are increasing their fine-motor skills while having fun playing with play-dough, puzzles, the touch and match boards and watercolors. They are developing their mathematic skills as they play with the birds in a nest game to sort the birds by colors, as well as work on number recognition and the meaning of each quantity.
Our classroom is a place where students can freely explore our differences. Thanks to your donation, they now have the multicultural puzzle, cut-out people shapes and diversity dolls; which show them people that look like them. Our Dramatic Play area is their favorite center, they love to dress up and use the tool box to pretend to fix the classroom. They enjoy pretending to clean the classroom using the toy cleaning set. They pretend to wash the baby doll clothes using the laundry basket set.
Most importantly to me, students have more tools to help their social-emotional development flourish. They go into our class tent to regulate their emotions. In the tent they have the fidget toys, busy board, the snuggle stuff dolls and emotions book to help them label their emotions and express it appropriately.
Thank you again for your donation!”

Funded Nov 15, 2021Thank you for your donation! The students are enjoying playing with the new materials. Our mathematic center, which was the center with the least materials prior to your donation, is now the most popular center. The materials you donated have helped make learning fun and exciting to our students, for example; we have been learning about a number every two weeks and the students love showing each quantity using the toys. Those toys have been critical to our students doing hands on learning.
Our dramatic play center is our second most popular center now, student enjoy playing dress up, caring for the multicultural dolls (which have been a great source of conversation about our different color skin and cultures) and serving yummy foods.
Our art area is also a popular center, the students love painting, creating collages and making 3D structures with clay. Your donation allowed us to provide students who needed extra support with their fine-motor development with play-dough to take home and play with in order to build those muscles. Families were also given a bag with art materials, which they used to create a project at home with their children during the holidays.
Thank you so much for your donation. You helped our classroom feel like a Pre-K classroom, where students come to play and learn with the materials needed. Thank you!”

Funded Dec 29, 2020Thank you for your donation of materials to our Remote Class!!! Your donation has made student engagement and learning much more age appropriate and fun. The students are enjoying having hands-on materials at home to use during our lessons and on their own.
We created "goody bags" for each student using the materials donated. The students were thrilled when they picked up their bags from school and some opened them immediately. Even now, a couple of weeks after we distributed the bags, students are showing each other the materials they have. It was like they received an extra-large party "goody bag" full of fun surprises.
Thanks to your donations our Pre-K students are furthering their understanding of the material being taught. Now, that each student received a bag with materials, they can follow along with the lesson and use their materials to practice the skill being taught. For example, during small groups we have been teaching numbers and what each number represent. Students went from watching me teach the lesson to now being the teachers themselves and showing us a number and the quantity that number represents using the materials donated. Students then have playtime at home and continue to practice the skill taught.
Your donation has also helped me plan better lessons because I now know what each student has and can plan games/activities using these material without leaving any student feeling left out because they didn't have those resources at home before. Students now have materials to play with at home that develops their motor skills such a play-dough, scissors, crayons, markers, etc. They have materials that help develop their social emotional skills such as scarves and musical instrument to express how they are feeling through music. They have materials that help with their Language and Mathematic development such as counters, links, number and alphabet games (printed and laminated for them using the materials donated) etc.
Thank you again for your donation, your contribution has made our students happy and has alleviated the struggle of teaching and learning remotely. THANK YOU!”

Funded Aug 13, 2020Thank you for your donation to our school, the students are enjoying the equipment!!! Thanks to your donations we are able to have play stations with plenty of materials for the students to choose from.
Some of the students who were in our school last year realized that the equipment was new and they very excited. Some of them were particularly happy to have more tricycles. Last year we only had one tricycle and the students had to wait in long lines in order to get a chance to use it; some days they couldn't all get a chance due our schedule. Now with more tricycles we have shorter lines and all the students have the opportunity to ride them.
The students are also delighted to have more balls. Specially now when social distancing and proper sanitation of materials is required in our school; it is great to have enough balls for each student.
We plan on pulling out the parachutes after the holidays and working on games such as "keep the ball on the parachute" in which students have to work together holding and moving the parachute while not allowing the ball to fall off. We also plan on taking out the carnival outdoor games, jump ropes and bubble wands outdoors when the weather is warmer.
Thank you again for your donation, your contribution has made our students happy and has alleviated the stress and worry of returning to school during this uncertain school year. THANK YOU!”

Ms. Reyes
