  • Sunshine State Readers for Our Young Leaders!

    I cannot thank you enough fir your generosity! In a Title One school, funds are scarce, and the school has limited resources to purchase books for our students.

    With your donation, I was able to purchase all of the 20-21 Sunshine Readers both the chapter books for my higher readers, and the picture books for my lower readers. A favorite is "The Panda Problem." This book introduces so many conversations about author's purpose, as well as what we use to retell a story.

    It is my desire that my students love reading as much as I do, and you have made that possible by donating towards some fantastic books.”

The Sunshine State Young Readers Award Program is a statewide reading motivational program for Florida students in grades 3 through 8. Students are encouraged to read independently for pleasure and to read books that are on all reading levels in order to improve their reading fluency. This project is to fund all of the SSYRA and SSYRA Jr books for my classroom. Sunshine State books are selected by Florida School Librarians for their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or multicultural representation. Then students can vote on their favorite books!

About my class
