Covid has made students shy and withdrawn. Flexible seating choices, indirect lighting, and class t-shirts, will build community and that students can learn how to socialize together and engage in academic discourse (such as 9-10.1, 1b, 4, and 6.). A printer will enable students to sit in their new "cafe" area and print their assignments directly in the classroom, also creating that positive atmosphere. Creating a safe, warm space for students to engage in the business of school will go far to helping students emotionally and academically overcome the problems of the past year.
