  • That's My Name!

    Funded Aug 6, 2020

Thank you so much for the laminator and supplies. It is hard to be virtual these days and know that the students are working on their names. We enjoy seeing them on screen showing us teachers their name everyday.

Being able to provide them a couple different ways to work with the letters in their name makes it fun.

"Look I can touch and spell my name", "Look I put the letters in the right order", and " I wrote my name." Is how we start all of our Zoom meetings.

Recently at conferences we were able to see that most of the students were able to recognize the letters in their names as well as some of their friends. Hearing M is for Mike and J is for john adds to the fact that names of friends are important too.

Now that we are pretty solid on our names the folders and Velcro dots will help make file folder games to help the students on individual goals. These will include numerals and quantities, as well as uppercase and lowercase alphabet matching. Then working into CVC words and word families. Thanks again,”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tiffany

  • It's School at Home

    Funded Jul 10, 2020

My program currently is a mix of face to face and virtual classrooms. I am currently in a virtual classroom.

With the Cricut I have been able to make learning boards with letters, shapes, colors, numbers and the students names so they can have these at home to work with and identify. I also made letter builders for each student as well. We have enjoyed working together with them during our zoom meetings.

I have been able to help fellow teachers with the letters needed for bulletin boards and other cutouts since we are not able to use our normal resources for cutting out letters and materials.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tiffany

I plan to take tri-fold presentation boards and add the alphabet, numbers, colors, and shapes for each student. I would like for them to be able to touch the alphabet as they sing the song, find the current letter, number, shape, and color as we talk about it on zoom meetings. To have their own learning boards at home will help with the connection of seeing one on videos or zoom meetings. Preschool students are hands-on, interactive learners. They need to do more than sit and listen. If they can interact they stay focused longer.
