Thank you so much for funding my project! I'm so excited to be able to get books into the hands of our most vulnerable readers. We know that access to appropriately-leveled, engaging books is of utmost importance for success in reading! Your kindness and generosity are so appreciated!”

  • Hands-On Learning from a Distance!

    Funded Aug 12, 2020

I am so grateful for your eager participation in helping me fund this project!! I am super excited to share these writing kits with my students, and I look forward to using them to help my students improve in letter and word learning during distance learning. Thank you for supporting education in this way!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Piatt

This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and 10 other donors.
Learning about letters and words is foundational to becoming a reader. Many of the students I work with have limited prior experiences with letters and words because they are Kindergarten, 1st, or 2nd grade students from vulnerable backgrounds or older students who are new to English. These students can become easily confused when attempting to identify and write letters and to put them together correctly in order to make words. Students learn best through active learning! When they can have their hands on materials, it can help bring letters and words to life. These kits of magnetic letters and wipe off boards & markers will assist my intervention students by providing these materials in their homes while we are learning from a distance.
