I place a huge emphasis on literacy as it is incorporated across all subjects whether we are reading a book, a word problem, a science experiment or a current event. The leveled library will be a place for students to book shop and enjoy books that interest them. The guided reading books will be used for just that- guided reading! Guided reading is so important for students to develop greater control over the reading process as well as develop and demonstrate reading strategies with scaffolding. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will be used to purchase sight word bundles from Eyewords. Eyewords is a multisensory approach to teaching high frequency words. In addition to the above resources, magnetic letters would give my students the opportunity to build their sight words and practice manipulating words. I believe my students would greatly benefit from all of the above resources to become stronger readers today and leaders tomorrow!
