  • Making Our Classroom a Space to Thrive!

    Funded Aug 30, 2023

Thank you SO much for your support! My students this year and years to come will have a space they can feel welcomed and invited into no matter what emotions they are feeling. This truly means so much to know that now students will have more tools to support their individual needs.

I really appreciate you all for donating!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. White

  • I See You. You Matter.

    Funded Jul 21, 2020

I cannot believe in just a week my project was seen by you and fully funded! I do not have enough words to express my full gratitude for all of your support in making sure my students' identities are not only valued but also explored. But I will say this thanks to you the books will forever be cherished knowing that they didn't just come off the shelf because I thought they were neat or interesting, they came off the shelf because all of you saw or felt the need for them to be in the hands of students. Thank you again for taking the time to read through my project and to feel compelled enough to support with bringing it to life.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. White

My kindergarten students are a lively bunch who have their entire lives ahead of them to explore, to learn and succeed. Within the four walls of our classroom, our learning and discussions are going to look different this upcoming year more than ever before. With a worldwide pandemic and the social injustices that have been in the news and happening right in front of us, it's apparent that there are going to be traumas that need to processed and regulated. I know there are things I won't always understand from what my students have seen, heard or experienced. I know we are different. But it's my responsibility within our class to make every one of my students feel heard, valued and welcomed. My students deserve to see themselves positively represented and shown within published books. All of the books listed have either a direct connection between the cultures my students identify with or open the door to deeper perspectives of kindness towards others. In the past my colleagues and I have always tried our best to follow curriculum but to also incorporate a multicultural perspective. But I feel like it was never enough. This year we will dive deeper than ever before, into recognizing our identity within classroom, home and community. Each step of the way using the the perspectives from our wonderful books and materials to accurately create themselves.
