  • Help Us Grow!

    Funded May 4, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to my "Help Us Grow" project. It has been AMAZING to watch the students learn and enjoy the gardens. We spent a day as a school building and planting out gardens.

The students got to watch their hard work grow and become something beautiful. They were responsible for taking care of daily needs for the gardens including watering, weeding, and maintaining the beds.

As you can see from the picture, the plants did very well. The students returned to school this year and got to see how the plants grew over the summer! They are able to go out and pick their own strawberries to snack on, we made salsa from scratch with the peppers, tomatoes, and onions we grew, and they are able to pick the cucumbers to put on the salad bar for their lunches!

You gave an amazing opportunity and gift for life to our students! Thank you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Riley

  • Reading Opens Doors

    Funded Apr 20, 2023

Thank you for donating diverse books to my classroom library! My students absolutely loved them! They were so excited when I put them on the "New Books" shelf, they immediately asked me if they could have independent reading time and picked a book and began reading. I wish you could have seen their faces (because of their program I cannot show faces).

It is so rewarding to watch a student find a book that makes them feel represented, connected, and like they matter. I love hearing them ask me to read!!

Thank you for making a difference and supporting their learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Riley

  • Future Artists

    Funded Apr 20, 2023

Thank you for donating all of the amazing art supplies to my classroom. My students all helped to open all of the packages and were so excited to see all of the wonderful art supplies they received!!

I use these supplies in my classroom for art class and for therapy sessions. Sometimes as the students are painting it calms them and helps them to be able to talk through issues as they paint. They are also able to focus their attention on the art task instead of what is frustrating them. Art is a huge asset in my classroom.

Thank you again for helping me be able to reach my students and provide them with materials they may not otherwise have access to.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Riley

  • Life Skills

    Funded Jan 1, 2023

Thank you for helping to stock our beautiful kitchen! Our students were so excited to open all of the boxes and help me organize all of the beautiful new things in our space. We used the new items right away to make some easy and inexpensive foods that they can make. My goal is to keep teaching them how to make foods they will be able to make independently at a very low cost as many of them will be living on their own and responsible for themselves at an age younger than most and without having been taught those skills. Thank you for helping teach them to be healthy, independent people!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Riley

  • My Students Love to Read!

    Funded Dec 19, 2022

My students were so excited with the things you helped to bring into my classroom. You have given them a comfortable place they can sit and enjoy their reading time and amazing new books for all of them to be able to enjoy. There are some class periods they beg me to just let them keep reading, which makes my heart happy (but they have to learn other things too). My students and I are so thankful for people like you who believe in and care for all of our students and help to make their days and their futures a little brighter! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Riley

  • Focus on Learning!

    Funded Aug 18, 2022

Thank you for donating to this important project. My students have their own NEW supplies which they love. They are able to keep all of their work neat and organized. It is exciting to see my students take care of their things because they know they are truly "their" things. Not something used or borrowed, but their own things.

Thank you for making my students feel important and worthy of having school supplies they don't have to stress about. They don't have to ask for because they cannot afford them, they are simply just here for them.

You made a difference for my students, Thank You!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Riley

  • Show Us We Matter!

    Funded May 4, 2022

Our students will begin their school year in a New Classroom!! We are so excited to welcome our students to this new space!

Your donations helped to supply some of the things needed to encourage our students to be productive and successful in their school day. Our students do not have access to a lot of things outside of their care and treatment facility, so things that seems small to others are HUGE to our students, including snacks!

Our students earn daily fake money for going above and beyond in the classroom. They are able to use this money to buy snacks to have in the classroom during their school day. This benefits our students in 2 ways, they must display great behaviors in order to receive these rewards, and they have to budget their money in order to be able to buy the rewards. Life skills and rewards all in one!

Thank you for supporting our students! You are a bright light in their lives!”

  • Brighten Their Day!

    Funded Dec 13, 2021

Thank you for donating to my Brighten Their Day project!! My students work to earn points daily and get to spend those points on snacks and other items in the classroom. My students live in a care and treatment facility and do not typically get these kinds of things there. A large number of them also come from poverty and trauma and being able to buy these kinds of items for themselves is huge for them. It is amazing how something like a bag of chips or a pack of cookies can give incentive for kids to be successful and make their days.

Thank you so much for helping me show them their hard work is appreciated and they are worthy!”

  • All Kinds of Diversity

    Funded Dec 10, 2021

Thank you so much for your donations to this project. It has been amazing to see my students happy to find books that represent them and that they can identify with. It has increased reading in my program greatly. I see kids excited for reading time and indulging in the stories they are reading. It has made a HUGE impact! My students were so excited when the delivery of books arrived and they could page through them and find books that fit them and their situations.

Thank you again for making an impact on their lives!!”

  • Financially Responsible Futures

    Funded Sep 3, 2021

Thank you for contributing to our Financially Responsible Futures! I am very excited about this project. I feel it is very important to teach our students how to be financially responsible teenagers and to take the lessons they learn into adulthood. Now, more than ever, I feel we need to teach our students what to look out for and how to manage money. Students need to know the importance of good credit, balancing budgets, and what kind of scams are out there along with how easy it is to get sucked into a debt trap.

Our building is a special education building and because of budgeting our students are used to getting curriculum that is old, abused, and typically not in the best condition or are copies made because we didn't have enough text for all of our students. Because of this our students are always SUPER excited to get a NEW book, that they get to use for the first time! It has a HUGE impact on their learning!

Thank you for allowing us to add these amazing resources to our curriculum and helping our students feel valued!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Riley

I teach a very diversified group of kids in my classroom. The differences range from ethnic, economic, sexual orientation, and abuse and neglect. I feel reading and connecting to literature can make huge differences in their lives. When they can read and connect to something that they have experienced or are experiencing they feel like they are understood. It is so important when they aren't comfortable to talk about it. Please help me to add literature that can reach the students in my classroom and open them up to new ideas or even start important conversations.
