I Am a Scientist!
Funded Dec 8, 2021Thank you for funding my project and helping me instill a love for science learning and exploring in my young learners. They will truly love and enjoy having a science center during social work time that will promote social skills, science content knowledge, language development, and so much more. I can't wait to see their little faces light up with joy. New toys and learning!”

Funded Dec 1, 2020Thanks to your contribution my students were able to have the materials they needed throughout the year without skipping a beat. Through the many changes this year, our students were able to persevere through remote learning as well as hybrid learning. Families were thrown into never before seen partnerships with schools to provide the best possible learning environments for their students. Many families found themselves with missing materials and scrambling to have the daily needed supplies. Because of your contribution our classroom had plenty of materials to replenish for when students and families ran out. Students and families were very thankful to be able to receive these much needed materials in order for students to continue to succeed. We are forever grateful.”

Funded Aug 12, 2020Thank you again for your support. My Kinder students have enjoyed taking ownership of their learning by being responsible for their materials, and practicing their learning at home. When my students first saw their binders, they were excited to have materials of their own. They were excited to see all the fun activities inside their binders that they could do at home. For many of my students, this was their first learning experience, and they got right to work! I was able to create activities for them and place them in the sheet cover protectors, so that with the use of a whiteboard marker they were able to do the activity over and over again. I know families were also very appreciative to have a designated binder to keep all of the school materials in one place.
The student binders are such a big help for fun activities, daily practice, organization, and to help support instruction. During our Zoom instruction students take out their binders at home, and follow along with our calendar, one-hundred chart, and weather sheet. Students can practice their counting, and writing of numbers as well as their print concepts. Students also use their binder to practice their names, letters, and reading. We also designated sheets for fun play-based learning activities like puzzles and games.
We are getting ready to return to in-person instruction this March. I know that having materials at home has helped my students tremendously. Not only to stay engaged and motivated, but to help support their foundational skills and their organization skills. We are excited and nervous to return to the classroom, but I know my students will continue to show tenacity and continue to grow.”

Funded Jul 1, 2020Thank you again for supporting my first year of teaching by allowing me to start my classroom library with diverse books. What does this mean? This means that my students that are from diverse backgrounds and cultures, as well as coming in to school with different experiences will get to be able to make meaningful connections with the books they read. They will be able to build new learning based on their prior knowledge and experiences. But most important these books are helping to build social cultural competence for my young students. My students will be able to build awareness for the diverse communities that they live in and interact with. My students will be able to see and read the world around them with new and kind perspectives. My students will be encouraged to celebrate and support each other through our differences and similarities.
Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, my district is 100% in remote learning. This means that I teach 39 emerging bilinguals of Spanish and English all online. Although, it would be best to have these books in the hands of the students during class read-alouds and independent reading time, I have shared with you some images of how I am able to share with my students the wonderful books. I use my document camera a lot, to share read-alouds. I use powerpoint slides to turn paper books, into digital slides to be able to share through synchronous meetings or record on screencastify to share as a video read-aloud. I also use our books to teach literacy skills of letter names, book concepts, letter-sound recognition, and overall a love for reading.
I want my students to make meaningful connections, and see themselves in the books they read. You have made this possible, and for that I am forever thankful. !Gracias!”
