  • Starting Kindergarten

    Funded Nov 28, 2022

Thank you so much for your incredible donations. The kindergarten class has enjoyed their new stools for their flexible seating! The carts have helped to organize all of the children's writing materials, art materials, and math workbooks. The children love exploring all of their new books and listening to them read aloud. Each morning we use the large note pads to interact with our morning message and explore questions on the sheet. This class would not have had such a smooth mid-year without the generous donations that you made!”

    With gratitude,

  • Adding Flexible Seating for Our 4k!

    Funded Apr 12, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation. Our 4k classroom was able to finish off the 2020-2021 Covid school year with some amazing options to relax while working. The children were in love with the lap desks and we are definitely going to get more of those seats as they are an amazing addition to our carpet time activities as well as getting the children out of desks and in more comfortable seating. We are looking forward to getting so much use out of all of the additional flexible seating during the 2021-2022 school year with our new children! Thank you again for your contribution to helping get these 4 year olds out of hard desks and into a more enjoyable way to learn!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Braun

  • A Comfortable Place for 4k Learning!

    Funded Feb 11, 2021

My class could not be any more grateful for our new seating. We have a lot of different needs in the classroom and having the number of items we received through your generosity has made a huge impact. The children are calming and being able to focus better versus tipping their chairs over and hurting themselves. The ability to rock in their chairs and be comfortable has drastically changed their ability to focus and succeed. We are introducing a new type of learning through play, instruction, and flexibility for these children by having these options when needed.

When the items were first brought into the classroom the children were ecstatic. They all ran towards the different chairs and had to try them all out. The seating options in our library have helped to bring the children over and read more often. This has helped them excel in their literacy development and enjoyment of reading. They have all calmed down now as they are adjusted to the options of seating and respect those who need it more than them each day. The chairs do not stay at one spot but instead are rotated based on the mood of children each day and how they need to better calm down.

The next step for my classroom is to create a fully diverse option of seating for every child that can allow them to rotate through depending on their needs each day. I would love to remove the majority of our desks and allow them the option to have small tables, floors, clipboards, etc. to complete their work versus confining them to a desk. I hope by next school year to have all of the hard, uncomfortable, stereotypical seating out of my room.

Again, thank you so very much for the start of this new flexible classroom. It would not have started without your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Braun

These children are 4 to 5 years old. My goal is to not have them sitting at a table and chair. This is the introduction to their schooling, yet we want to make it comfortable for them. I believe in learning through play in my classroom and having comfortable seating verses large tables makes this so much easier. These children will love to sit in different seating choices to help them better concentrate while learning, what four year old wants to sit in a hard chair. The children's focus needs to be on learning new letters and numbers, not on how to sit in a hard chair!
