  • Help Me Focus

    Funded Apr 14, 2022

Thank you so much for helping bring calm down and focus tools into my classroom. It is hard for students to learn and focus when they are anxious or distracted. I have a corner/bucket were students are able to get a tool (ball, fidget, dog lap pad) to help them focus and get back on track. The cushion seats have been used by several students each day so they can focus and complete their work.

If students sensory needs are not being met they are unable to learn in the classroom. Your generous support has helped my students every day.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Casebolt

  • Reading with Literacy Tiles

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom. The students have loved using the literacy materials. We have been using them during whole group and small group. I am to use the materials whole group and then let the students practice in small group. The students love that these materials have a sensory component. They are able to see, touch and feel each sound in the word. When students are able to have a visual and kinesthetic component, they are able to really understand it.

I am so thankful for generous donors that invest in our classrooms.”

  • Math Tiles for Centers

    Funded Jan 14, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom. My students were so excited when the box arrived. We were able to open it together, it was like Christmas morning.

We were able to use the materials during center time. Once I taught the students how to use the tiles, they were able to independently use them.

They rotate centers and practice different skills. They are all excited to go to the Math Tiles center. Their favorite part is that the tiles are self checking, so they feel like big kids.

Thank you for helping me give my kids fun and engaging center work!”

  • Calm Down Tools

    Funded Dec 17, 2021

Thank you so much for helping fund my calm down tools project.

The students have loved using them. When they arrived, I showed them each tool and taught them how to use them. I put half of the tools in a bucket for them to come and get when they feel the need to use one. I am able to clean them at the end of the day and students are able to share them.

The students love the stress balls and expanding ball. They all want a turn with them everyday.

My students and I are so thankful for the support!”

  • Pants and Snacks Needed

    Funded Jan 3, 2022

Thank you so much for the pants, socks and snacks.

I was able to stock the clothing closet for kids who need pants due to a need or an accident. We have a hard time having enough clothes for smaller students so this donation was very appreciated. I was able to send socks home with a student who needed extra socks.

The first grade students enjoyed eating the snacks. They LOVE the Goldfish and cereal bars that were sent. They enjoyed eating them at snack time.

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom!”

  • Working Around the Room

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom project. The students were so excited when the chairs arrived. We opened them together and they all screamed with delight.

We take turns using a randomizer with all the students names. They get to sit on the chairs during whole group, morning meeting, center times, free time, computer time, and dismissal.

The students love that they can adjust the back and sit comfortably while they work. I have noticed that they are able to pay attention better, when they have flexible seating.

    Thank you for your donation!”

  • Bringing Diverse Books to the Classroom!

    Funded Jul 10, 2020

Thank you so much for donating and brining diverse books into our classroom.

We read Separate is Never Equal and we had several conversations about how things have changed. We made a list of ways we can show kindness to others.

My students loved listening to me read a Whistle for Willie. It is important to me that my students see characters that look like them in stories we read. Willie learns to whistle in this story and students practiced whistling at their tables.

One of my students, Sam, liked reading/looking at My Papi has a Motorcycle. She related to this book because he rode on her dad's bike and they took many trips together.

    Thank you!!”

  • Diversity Books for Kids

    Funded Jun 24, 2020

Thank you so much for thinking of my classroom and students. My students were so excited to see our new books. I could tell they like seeing books that the characters looked like them.

When we started back to school with the students in person, we read Our Class is a Family. We have discussions about how we are a school family and we take care of each other. We made a list of the ways we can be a kind/helpful friend. We made a t chart about making good choices vs bad choices in the classroom.

I had the Leo and Lola books on the table in the mornings and afternoons around arrival/dismissal time and the students could read them independently. Some of the students read them to each other. These were the perfect books because they had great illustrations and predictable text.

One of my students (Molly) really liked looking A is for Awesome! She really loved looking at all the illustrations and asking me about the different women in the book.

My students were able to listen to me read many of these books aloud, look at them independently and with classmates!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Casebolt

During this time of uncertainty, I want my students to remember how important they are and how we are all different. I want our classroom to be a place where we celebrate and work on accepting each other for who we are. Students see what is happening in the world and they need help to process it all. I want them to hear/see stories with people who look like them. We will be using these stories in Zoom read aloud and discussions in our social studies and morning meetings. Students will have time to reflect, talk in groups, and write in a journal to express their feelings.
