  • Look, Listen, Read, Repeat!

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

    Thank you so much for funding our project! These first graders are becoming confident readers who now have the courage to try new books! With our new Cd Player and books on CD, the kids listen to the stories while following along in the books.

    As a class, I guided these learners from individual reading to small group reading to book clubs. The literacy independence they gained from this year was phenomenal! I plan to continue using these tools with my future classes!”

  • Scientific Diversity

    Funded May 5, 2022

    First grade science is so much fun!! We study life cycles and grow plants and butterflies. We visit "Butterfly World" and care for our larvae all the way until we release them as butterflies!

    With your generous funding, we were able to take our experiences and "play"! It was another way for us to experience the life cycles "hands-on". We played with life cycles of butterflies, frogs, and lady bugs, thanks to you!

  • I Can Hear Myself Read!

  • Staying Neat and Organized

    We are so grateful for the pencil boxes that are keeping us organized! We use them for all our writing utensils and colors so these materials are easy-to-find and within reach. They stack neatly on our tables and the colors add a bit of fun to our space!

These book sets will give my students an opportunity to read about the history of our country, our community, and the world in which we live. The more we can relate these to their own lives, the more they internalize their history and the world around them. I believe that leads them to care, which will lead them to become productive members of our society. We are teaching future leaders and I take this responsibility seriously. When we empower these kids, they will care enough to do something good for our world!

About my class
