I wanted to take a moment to explain to you the impact your donation has made on our classroom here in Rego Park, Queens. The students use the seat sacks every day as an extension of their backpack. It helps them to unpack in the morning and pack up in the afternoon! This ensures that we never forget our homework! It helps the teacher in the classroom check homework without disrupting the work that is happening! The seat sacks help to keep us organize! The magnetic base ten blocks help us visualize our math and have improved our discussion during group work!!”

I wanted to let you know that this school year has been like no other I have ever experience since I began teaching in 2001. I have always collected $5 a child to purchase colorful scholastic news for my class. This year, I knew I would begin the school year with a delayed opening. I would not have students in front of me to bring in supplies until VERY late September. Also, I knew supplies this year would be tough for the families of Rego Park, Queens. I wanted to limit the supply list as much as I could. We have just begun to receive our subscription and the children are excited to read some of the issues. This subscription is the supliment to our literacy program.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hicks

Scholastic will give my students access to science and other content based concepts. While engaging in discussions surrounding the subject based content, students can experience a fluent reader reading to them as well as other supportive videos with the digital aspect. I have used Scholastic Magazines for many years but this year I do not want to ask parents for the money as many students in NYC have experienced hardships due to the pandemic. Additionally many of my students will be working from home. Thank you for any donations you can send to my students.
