  • Inviting Classroom Environment

    Funded Aug 26, 2024

Thank you for supporting our classroom and helping to make it a more inviting place for students to enter every day.

The birthday chart has made students excited about tracking the next student's birthday to celebrate them as a family. The calendar and flow of the day chart has helped us keep track of the day's lesson and the school days and aid the ENL students in identifying words such as yesterday, today and tomorrow.

With the new headphones students are able to utilize their devices in aiding their educational journey. They use them to complete individualized lessons on iReady, complete assessment in their HMH curriculum, and listen to our read alouds again in order to help make connections to our skill of the day.

Thank you again in helping to provide these much needed supplies for our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bogomolny

  • Books and Beyond

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Thank you for supporting our classroom and helping to replenish our classroom library. As the academic year nears its end, the classroom libraries tend to be shown lots of love, as well as wear and tear. Students borrow books daily, and enjoy reading them any chance they get: during independent reading, recess and at home. Thus, many books need to be replaced. My students are already enjoying the new books in our library that you helped to fund. They love discussing the characters in these series, as well as how they are changing.

The additional supplies are helping our classroom stay organized. Students are using pencils and erasers to jot their ideas while reading. The zipper bags are helping them to store their materials in one place. Finally, the dry erase pockets and markers help students show their work and share it out with the class.

Thank you again for donating to a great cause.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bogomolny

  • Hear Me Well

    Funded Apr 5, 2023

Thank you for your support and generosity. Our classroom was in need of new headphones and you helped provide them for us. These headphones allow students to expand their knowledge through online learning. Students can now learn math and reading concepts, on their level, by using the iReady website. In addition, our classroom is currently working on a research unit about animals and students love learning about them through various sites like MyOn and GetEpic. These websites provide access to learning materials at the students' reading levels. In addition, my students can now use their headphones to listen to 'read to me' books, allowing them to access to text above their independent reading level. They can also watch videos about these animals and listen to all the important information they would otherwise not be able to get. Every day learning has just become more interesting with these headphones.

Thank you again for your donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bogomolny

  • Clockwork and Beyond

    Funded Nov 23, 2022

Thank you for your amazing support and contributions. These supplies helped my students grow as mathematicians, as well as keep themselves organized and allow themselves to assess daily effort.

The clocks came in handy when learning about elapsed time. Students were able to use the clocks to evaluate how much time has elapsed as well as figure out starting and ending times in their word problems.

The zipper pouches and hanging pouches helped students keep their belongings in one place and stay prepared for the upcoming lessons.

Finally, the behavior chart allows students to keep track of their effort and earn dojo points for doing their best. This has helped many to push themselves to be successful at what they put their minds to.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bogomolny

  • FUNcentives for Positivity

    Funded May 29, 2022

Thank you for your generous donations and supporting our classroom. As the new year is a about to begin, I will continue to use these resources to promote my students' efforts and encourage them to do their best.

I have already created a reward chart and a prize box students can choose from. Prizes will be earned by being a hard worker, good partner, great listening, participation, or just having a good day. The incentives will help my students to not only learn but feel rewarded for their hard efforts. Every student, no matter their level, will feel recognized for the work they put in. This will help create a rewarding and engaging atmosphere in the classroom and help make learning more fun.

Thank you again for your support.”

  • Books, Books and More Books

    Funded May 5, 2022

Thank you for supporting our classroom and helping to provide my students with new and exciting books to read. Most books we received are part of a book series. Students can't put them down and encourage each other to read more often, so they can discuss the events of the book and borrow the next book in the series. It is amazing seeing my students discussing how the characters are changing throughout the books, or predicting what will happen in the next book.

Bringing in new books into the classroom helped reignite my students' desire to read and use their imagination. They can't wait for independent reading time.

Thank you again for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bogomolny

  • Heads with Headphones

    Funded Jan 11, 2022

Thank you for your support by providing my classroom with headphones that my students can use to further their learning. They have been able to work on improving their reading and math skills through their IReady learning platform. In addition, they have used these headphones to complete research about their topics for their social studies writing assignments. They listen to audiobooks, view informational videos and enjoy interacting with a variety of content that stimulates their curiosity for knowledge. After all their learning, we are able to use wipes and paper towels to sanitize their devices/iPads and safely share them with other classrooms. Having these resources has been a blessing and I am truly grateful for your help in providing them for my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bogomolny

  • Emotional Perseverance

    Funded May 20, 2021

Thank you for supporting our classroom and helping to bring in books which students could use to to help them learn to deal with difficulties and challenges. In these books student met characters that relied on friends, family, as well as used their own wit and choices to overcome difficult, tricky or stressful situations. By seeing kids like themselves overcoming challenges, students learned that they can as well.

We listened and discussed possible choices and outcomes in the What Should Danny Do? books during our read alouds. Students began to understand that every choice has an outcome and/or consequence. We discussed how we should strive to help others and be friendly. Students also learned what to do when they see friends get bullied, or if they need assistance themselves. This helped them with their emotional wellness.

    Thank you again.”

  • Diversity for Diverse Readers (Part 2)

    Funded May 5, 2021

Thank you for supporting our classroom and helping to update our class library and diversify the books students have access to.

Students enjoyed listening and holding conversation about some of the Yasmin books we received. They learned to summarize stories from beginning to end, focusing on the character, problem and solution. They also listed over a dozen different traits and feelings that Yasmin had in her stories. We realized that although some traits remain the same, characters change over time and develop new strategies to dealing with problems.

Emma Every Day books allowed students to understand that we are all different and to be exposed to sign language.

Our class if filled with diverse students and this helped bring in books students can relate to.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bogomolny

  • Diversity for Diverse Readers (Part 3)

    Funded Apr 30, 2021

I would like to thank you for your donations and helping to get these books into my students' hands. We were able to read the books provided as part of read alouds, discussing character traits, relationship and changes.

Both Here's Hank and Nikki and Deja book series were also used to teach and support our Series Book Clubs reading unit. During those lessons, students worked in Book Clubs to create goals around these books. They read the books together and held conversations about them. This helped foster love for books, as well as promote book discussions.

Students felt comfortable talking to others about what interested them, made them laugh or confused them. This encouraged them to not only share their thinking, but to listen to and question each other respectfully.

We will continue to enjoy these books for a long time.

    Thank you once again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bogomolny

Since the quarantine, students have been learning from home. It seems like returning to school in September may mean coming to class in shifts and/or studying at home some of the time. Students will need an abundance of resources, including physical books, that they will need to read in order to learn about main characters and the changes they go through over time. In order to do so, students will need to bring books home to read, so they can discuss these changes with their classmates on an online platform or once they are physically in school. I will need numerous copies of the same book in order for the students to hold group or class discussions. Providing students with a physical copy of the book will help bring ownership to their learning. They will be able to refer to the text when talking to others through an online platform or in class. Having series books will help them understand the changes main characters go through over time.
