As an art teacher, planning for my students to be successful while creating art at home is a challenge. This past year the majority of my students didn't have and couldn't acquire even the most basic materials to create their art from home. Some students were forced to be very creative and used anything from the inside of food boxes to napkins to draw on. At the same time, other students didn't even have access to a drawing utensil of any kind. These are my students, and I have to find a way to meet them where they are so that they all have the opportunity to express themselves equally.
My project is to create "take-home" bags of basic art materials so that I can create equity among my students and give all of them the opportunity to be successful when working from home. The materials I'm requesting are basic art materials: sketchpads, pencils, hand pencil sharpeners, and colored pencils. I will use these materials to create zip lock bags of supplies for each student to take and keep at home for the times during the school year when they need to create their artwork outside of the classroom. These are essential materials to create equity among my students and help them to be their very best under today's unprecedented circumstances. Thank you for donating to my project and helping my students in these challenging times.
