This past year in the pandemic students had to go through the unfortunate learning style of learning through a screen. As teachers tried to make this experience as interactive as possible there’s only so much that can be done. These materials will help the students come together again and remember how fun it is to learn with peers and be together again in the classroom. Activities that specifically will aid in this experience through these donated materials will include playing games such as bingo to make math lessons more engaging for the students, using the materials in a small group manipulative setting that allows them to collaborate and do assignments on topics such as algebra, fractions, and decimals a better experience, and growth mindset activities with the mirror where students can collect their thoughts in a quiet area and look at themselves with the mirror surrounded by positive messages that remind them why they are so important. Students also will benefit from this project by using donated materials such as pencils, glue sticks, crayons, paper, calculators, and more. Many of these students come in with not very many materials, if any, and through these donations they will be able to complete general daily assignments with much more ease without having to worry about not having the required materials everyday. Being a first year teacher I want to do everything to help give my students the experience they deserve. Help me give back to my students what they’ve missed out on since the beginning of 2020!
